清理河道活動

每年九月的第三週，世界各地成百萬的義工響應世界海洋保護組織的號召，同時來到海邊、河邊、湖邊清理人類生活的廢棄物。目的是讓我們擁有更潔淨的水源、更美麗的海洋，讓水生動物有更健康的生活環境。地球上的水是相通的，一個地方的廢棄物可能會漂泊到另一處。與陸地上的垃圾不同，水中的廢棄物對生態環境的影響範圍更大，對水中生物的傷害更多（因為它們生活在被污染過的水中）。

上週六上午，部分弟子規班的家長，同學參加了"The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup"清理河道的活動。少年班首次將弟子規課堂從教室搬到了戶外，讓同學們在義務勞動中力行弟子規。我們清理了LaChine運河其中的一段，共從河邊打撈出15公斤的廢棄物。有三位家長根據"The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup"的要求對廢棄物的數量、種類做了嚴格的統計，因為這些數據將上傳到世界海洋保護組織，以便該組織對數據進行分析、處理後，對我們的生活提出忠告。附件（GCSCDataCardTallyWorksheet.xls）是我們採集數據的匯總。

Dear the staffs of "the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup",

Yesterday, our group (dizigui) completed the clean up event. It was a wonderful activity. As a Chinese community, we had 24 people (11 adults and 13 kids) in total joined this event. It was the first time for us to participate an effort of improving the quality of our waterway. The attached is our group data card. Meanwhile, we have filled same data in our cleanup website.

The item we found the most is: Cigarettes/Cigarette Filters 765

The most interested part of this event was that we found a drift box which was containing a beautiful silver bracelet! 

The name of our group is dizigui which is aiming to promote Chinese Traditional Culture and improve the moral standing of our young generation. We have noticed that the value and mission you hold are aligned with our goal. This is the reason of why we enthusiastically joined "the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup" and most likely we will participate this event every year as a part of our teaching program.
